VIVA VIGAN!

We Filipinos enjoy fiestas because it is the celebration of our patron saint or of harvest. It is the time where our relatives get together and enjoy the enchanting celebrations. It is always been a tradition to every Filipinos to go back to their provinces at times like this. The pandemic changes a lot of our traditions including this year because of Covid-19. We might not be able to celebrate an occasion the usual way, which is disappointing at some point.

Vigan City of Ilocos Sur is known as the 7th Wonder Cities (UNESCO World Heritage City). Its historical and cultural significance makes it more unique and popular destination for local and international tourist. As part of the rich culture, Vigan City celebrates an annual fiesta every 25th of January in honor of Saint Paul the apostle, the patron saint of the city. The active participants with colorful costumes of street dancing, carnivals, food fairs where Biguenos showcases their products as well as their arts and crafts and the so called longganisa festival are the events that local and international audiences enjoyed to watch for. Today's pandemic due to covid 19, it is indeed a great challenge yet there's no hindrance nor reason not to celebrate the annual festival. The local government make their very best to continue this joyful celebration of the city (by strictly following health protocols) that signifies the pride of Biguenos culture.

Vigan City is just a great place to visit and make memories with family and friends. Not only for the historical architecture, cultural events and food, but especially to the hospitality of Biguenos. VIVA VIGAN!
